CPL hosting a Panel on Euthanasia in Canada at Civitas.

Civitas is a membership-based, non-profit organization that exists “to promote and deepen understanding through the exchange of a wide range of political, economic, social, religious, cultural and philosophical ideas concerning the principles and traditions of a free and ordered society.”

CPL is pleased to be sponsoring a panel at this upcoming event in Ottawa this May 2-3, 2025 on the following theme:

A Decade of Euthanasia in Canada: Autonomy or Abandonment?

Euthanasia/MAID has been legal in Canada for almost a decade. Proponents of medical assistance in dying are celebrating “a decade of autonomy and choice” and the “transformation of end-of-life rights.” Opponents are sounding the alarm about “a pattern of noncompliance” and that “the practice is being abused.” Are personal freedom and protection of the vulnerable compatible values? And, how does the manner in which we die affect our nation?
